Digital print on antique papers.
Making Nature is a collection of paper-based works invited for exhibition at Kendal Museum between June/July 2013. The work comprises of twenty framed digital prints that appropriate the visual aesthetic of instructional illustrations sourced from taxidermy manuals, posters, leaflets, paper ephemera; and is preoccupied by the artist's ongoing examination of Taxidermy as a platform to challenge accepted readings of natural history museum collections. Within the context of the museum, the discoloured paper and visual print aesthetic confers a sense of authority and authenticity to the work. The freshly printed digital images are subtle manipulations that question the conventions of museum taxidermy and how it's specimens are intended to be read by the audience.
